Africa's Big
5
-
My family and I recently had a holiday in South Africa.
I was lucky enough to see all of the Big 5 animals!
-
This photo is of the rare African white lion.
The adult lion weighs about 313 kg and is the 2nd biggest cat after the tiger.
-
This is the 2nd animal of the Big 5, the Leopard. The leopard's running speed is about 58 km per hour. The males are about 30% larger than females and they are very diverse in size, and weigh from 30 - 91 kg.
-
The African Elephant,
the African elephant is very large, the average adult ways 5500 kg and has a life span of
about 60 to 70 years, people are often quet frightened of them because...
-
They travel in large herds and if they feel they are being threatend they all stampede at the preditor.
-
The Buffalo
The buffalo is a big animal, the lenth from its' head to back ranges from 2100 mm to 3000 mm, and it ranges from 500 kg to 900 kg.
-
The White Rhino
The white rhino was by far my favorite animal experience but sadly there are only around 20,504 left in the world because of poaching. That is why this one had its horn chopped off, to try and make them less valuable to poachers, but the horn can actully regrow like this one has. It is the same as your finger nails, and its so valuble that it weighs in at a market price the same as gold.
-
This particular rhino was very playfull and was playing with a dag in this photo but if you thought that a rhino was slow then your wrong! An adult can run up to 50 kilometres an hour!
-
Thank you for watching
:)
