The Hanging Gardens Of Babylon built by King Nebuchadnezzar II for his wife who was depressed of the flat sun-baked lands of the Mesopotamia and wanted the lush green land where she came from.
-
He built the Hanging Gardens(704-681)BC in his Capital City of Nineveh on the Euphrates river which is now Iraq today.
-
To keep the lush green gardens alive he needed water which he took out of the Euphrates river using a system of buckets and pulleys. The buckets spun around a chain which dipped into the river to fill them up and than would deposit them in an irrigation system at the top of the Gardens.
-
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon collapsed due since their locations were to far from the river. Some reports say that they were destroyed by an earthquake and more findings say that they were made of brick and mud and slowly eroded away over time.
