You can choose a free theme which allows for limited customization, or a paid theme which allows more flexibility. Either way, you will need to print out your template after customizing to your tastes. DIY Wedding Program Templates
Creating your own DIY wedding program templates does not have to be difficult. You can make them from scratch, or download and print some from the internet. If you need help deciding on which types to make, we have here a few options you can try.
Use the following materials: Free wedding program fan template, 8.5″ x 11″ card stock, Wood fan handles, Double-sided tape, cutter, Ruler, Paper trimmer or scissors.
Instructions:
- Download the chosen template to Microsoft word and edit to include your wedding party and ceremony details. Endeavor to stay within the trim lines while editing the formatting and fonts to your liking.
- Print out the template to your card on hopefully sixty-seven-pound paper, as this works perfectly.
- With the blunt side of your cutter/knife and a ruler, make an impression down the centerfold of the program and fold it in half to make a booklet. Next, trim the outer edges of the program; this will give you a 1 5.25″ x 5.25″ program.
- Use double sided tape, or glue if you’re sure not to get it soggy, to glue the fan stick to the bottom, reverse side of the program. Make sure it’s in the middle, and fold the booklet over the fan stick and press down.
- You can decorate the fan handle with ribbons or added the color of spray paint if you so desire.

Instructions:
- Download the chosen template to Microsoft word and edit to include your wedding party and ceremony details. Endeavor to stay within the trim lines while editing the formatting and fonts to your liking.
- Iron the cotton fabric to remove any wrinkles; ensure to disable steam on your iron and set it to the cotton setting. Once the fabric wrinkle free, place the freezer paper, wax side down, on the cotton fabric and iron so the paper bonds with the fabric. Once this is properly done, allow it cool.
- Next, trim the edges of the fabric to align with the edges of the freezer paper, and then place the fabric with the freezer paper attached in your printer rear feed tray, fabric side up and print.
- If this is done to your satisfaction, cut out your flags and peel off the freezer paper. And then using your double sided tape, attach the dowel down the center of your flag and press to adhere.
- Lay fabric tape along the three open sides of the fabric and iron them shut.
