METAPHASE: Now all of the pieces are aligning themselves for the big split. The DNA (DNA is a molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms ) lines up along a top and bottom of the cell and the centrioles send out spindle fibers (special material that is sticky and connects. Spider-Man uses them) that connect to the DNA. The chromatin has now condensed into chromosomes. Two strands of a chromosomes are connected at the center with something called a centromere (The centromere is the part of a chromosome that links sister chromatids. Sister chromosones are identical to each other). The spidle fibers actually connect to the centromere, not the DNA.
